Da Nang is home to some of Vietnam’s best beaches and is the 4th largest city in Vietnam, located halfway between Ho Chi Min and Hanoi.
It is also home to The Greenhouse, the location of Volunteer Vietnam. Founded in 2004 it has looked over 500 residents, ranging from disabled orphan children to the homeless elderly and elderly living with dementia and Alzheimer’s.
Applications are open to students from any field, however, those with a medical, education, disabilities or social work background will find the placement the most rewarding. Roles range from providing physiotherapy to children with disabilities to spending time with elderly patients with dementia, playing music, reading and talking to them.
Many of the children supported by volunteer Vietnam are orphaned or have been abandoned and they enjoy spending time with volunteers who treat them as family of their own.
While you stay and volunteer at The Green house, you will receive 3 meals per weekday and your accommodation included in the cost.
This really is a once in a lifetime opportunity for those looking to contribute on a holistic level, as well as gaining some experience in their chosen academic fields. Your weekends are free to explore the historic cultural sites of Hoi An and Hue, as well as enjoying the amazing Da Nang beaches. Vietnam has a rich and powerful history, making it a fantastic place to explore!
